4th of July
This just has to be one of my most favorite Holidays we celebrate! Reminds me of times spent as a family enjoying good food, great laughs and of course fireworks.
Each year our family would gather and we would enjoy the day watching our local 4th of July parade, which as a kid our goal was to get as much candy as we could possibly handle. Then it was back home for a cook out and us kids asking every hour "Is it time for fireworks yet?" Lastly, when the sky began to get dark it was time to set up and prepare for the firework display, which happen to be a combination from each family. It seemed to last forever as a kid and I loved every minute of it!
Now as an adult I have come to realize the deeper meaning of the 4th and the true blessing we have in freedom! It is now fun to see the same memories play out with our own kids. Seeing their excitement as the parade passes and they scoop up candy, the anticipation of lighting off the fireworks and the joy and laughter from good friends and family. It just makes me realize that I am truly blessed!
BUT.... You have to have yummy treats to enjoy! Here are a couple, perfect for any BBQ.
-Strawberries (make sure they are dry, as moisture will alter the texture)
-12 oz. white chocolate
-blue sugar (can be found at most stores..blue sprinkles work too)
-Melt 12 oz. white chocolate
-One at a time, dip the strawberries into the chocolate and then into the blue sugar
-Set to harden on wax paper and enjoy!
