Puzzle Pieces & A Glass of Lemonade

Does life sometimes fill like an unfinished puzzle or a bunch of sour lemons?

This is a post I wrote over a years ago and I am finding the need to share it. We just lost our nephew last night. He was born 18 weeks premature, but came out a fighter. We are heart broken for his loss but know that God's plan is much bigger than we can even imagine!

This comes from a very painful time in my life and one a good friend has just experienced this past week…The death of a loved one.

Hearing of his news brought back a lot of memories when I first heard that my BFF had been killed in a car accident by a drunk driver. I remember it like it was yesterday, even though the pain has lessened over the years, I can still remember feeling as if I just died myself.

I went through so many emotions shock, hurt, mad, sadness and then questioning WHY? I said so many times; why God…Why did you take this young woman, who has a family with little boys. She has so much more in life to offer!

faith

It is times like these that in life we don’t have all the answers. Trust me, it is hard and sucks not to understand. But, this is when our FAITH comes in to play. We have to trust there is a BIGGER and Better plan.

I know for me that my strength came from surrounding myself with the people that I love. They provided me the encouragement I needed to help with the pain. I also could not have gotten through this difficult time if it weren’t for my relationship and faith in God.

puzzleHave you ever felts as if life just dumped an entire 1000 piece puzzle onto a table and the picture from the lid is missing? This is when we get frustrated, ready to blame someone else and wonder where to even begin.

We have a choice to either give up & put the puzzle away or see it as a challenge. Even though we know it is not going to be easy we can begin the process by finding the corner pieces, then move on to the edges and finally begin on sorting the different colors. Before we know it we start to find pieces that go together.

We also have to rely on FAITH that all the pieces are there and that we have what it takes (time and patience) to finish the job at hand. Once we begin taking it one step at a time it starts to get a bit easier.

I don’t know about you but when life throws me obstacles like these I rely on God and trust that He sees the bigger picture. Even though we do not have all the answers to so many questions, he does. He provides us with the strength and those pieces in-order to get to the end of the journey. It is then that we can marvel at the bigger picture he created.

Going through the pain of losing someone is not easy; when I lost Amy I had two choices…

1. Allow that pain to over take me and cause a negative effect on my life

2. Realize that as hard as it was, I knew that God was looking at the bigger picture while I was just seeing a few pieces that I had no clue where they should go.

Yes, I chose to Realize that life hands us pieces we are not sure of, but I was not about to quit and give up.

There is a classic saying that I am sure all of you have heard
”When Life gives you Lemons, make Lemonade!”

lemonlemonade

Life was never promised to be roses and cheesecake but we have been given the choice to choose the negative or the positive in every situation.

What are you choosing? I have learned that living with a positive mindset has allowed me to have one fantastic life and there is nothing more powerful than counting your blessing!

Do you find yourself holding unknown puzzle pieces?

Wondering what step to take next?

We all go through times like these, so be encouraged you are not alone. With time and a positive outlook the puzzle will start to come together.

I hope this encourages you to start making lemonade…heck take that lemonade and share it with others!
